                        The Ruins – The Taj Mahal of Negros



The Ruins in Talisay City is one of the most iconic landmarks in Negros Occidental. It was built in the early 1900s by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson in memory of his wife, Maria Braga. Because it was built as a symbol of love, it is called the “Taj Mahal of Negros.”

During World War II, the mansion was burned to prevent Japanese forces from using it. Despite the destruction, its strong structure remained standing. Today, visitors can still see its tall columns and detailed architecture. During sunset, the golden light makes the place look even more beautiful and romantic.

The Ruins is not just a tourist attraction. It represents lasting love and strength. Even after tragedy, it continues to stand proudly. It teaches us that love and memories remain strong even when physical structures are damaged.

In my opinion, The Ruins is a meaningful historical site that reflects both the romantic and resilient spirit of the Negrense people.
